Cap Freeze was created by a former hockey player and current lawyer who still loves being part of the game. The site compiles NHL contract and salary cap information from credible media outlets, reporters and insiders, presented the way a front office would want to see it: full team cap sheets, daily-updated contract data, and a working knowledge of the CBA behind every number.
Much of what you see here is inspired by the work of CapFriendly, whose departure left a real void for fans, media and hockey people alike.
Figures are compiled from public reports and refreshed daily during the league year. Team cap hits reflect players on the NHL roster plus dead-cap charges (buyouts, retained salary, buried contracts and bonus overages). Non-roster players and unsigned RFAs are tracked but do not count against the cap. Numbers are estimates and may differ from official club accounting.
